Hello,
My name is Gabe Caldera and these are the knives I have created. I have studied and honed my skills over the years and am proud to call myself a Knife Maker and Artist.  I put my heart and whole being into making every knife to the best of my abilities.  I only use top quality materials and purchase them directly from professional knife supply companies.  Because I heat treat my own knives in a coal forge I use only 1084 high carbon steel. Eventually I will make stainless steel kitchen knives and one day swords. But for now I am making high carbon, full tang camping, hunting, and tactical style knives.

I will update the Knife Showcase to the right each time I finish a group of knives and if a knife is available for sale with a price which includes a kydex sheath.  I do not currently make leather sheaths and would not recommend you store a high carbon steel knife long term in one because of rusting issues.

My shop and process:

I continue to upgrade my shop tools as I sell more knives but every single surface on my knives is and always will be hand finished all the way down to the micro thin cutting edge.  I do all my grinding free hand which I feel gives each knife a personality.   I take pride in my work and want you to have a knife that really reflects what I put into it.

At the current time all my knives are being made from1/8" thickness high carbon steel. I am only doing full tang knives with brass or nickel silver pins. The handle materials I use are mostly wood and occasionally polyester resin, and micarta. On the wood handles I use a gun stock finish and put a minimal 6 to 12 coats sometimes 24 hours apart to allow for drying. If you're doing the math, yes, sometimes it takes a few weeks for the handle finish.  But the extra time makes all the difference.

Use and Care:

Your knife will come with a kydex sheath and razor sharp out of the box. PLEASE BE CAREFUL! It literally may be the sharpest knife you will own. If you purchase a knife from me I will sharpen it free of charge. If you have to ship it to me though please include return shipping ($10 for priority mail) so I can ship it back to you.

I will offer a lifetime warranty (my lifetime at least) on my knives. If it breaks during normal "knife" tasks I will repair or replace it. If it breaks from "abuse" though I may be able to repair for a fee. Examples of abuse, but not limited to: throwing your knife into something, prying things open, batoning or splitting wood. Chipping due to chopping tasks.

Because of the nature of high carbon steel you should keep it clean and/or at least dry when in the sheath. If you leave water on it it will rust overnight. With normal use and age the steel will get a protective patina which is a darkening of the steel which I personally think gives a knife personality. I say let your knife wear it's scratches and scars like a badge of honor. With that said, your knife might have scratches from the creation processes, and will get scratches with use. It is a tool after all. My end goal is to make a fully functional, tough, sharp knife that will last generations.

Keep the steel clean and dry and it will be fine.  You can put a light coat of mineral oil to help protect it if you wish but isn't really necessary.

Custom Orders:

At this time I'm not doing custom orders of specific styles of knives.  I'm still exploring the world of knife making with new materials and techniques all the time.  I will, however, continue to make knives similar to the ones I have already produced and create new ones as I go.  I'll keep updating with pictures and prices as I complete new knives.

Thank you for your interest and I hope you enjoy using my knives as much as I enjoy making them.

Sincerely,

Gabe Caldera
